The Kingdom of Boomeria

I visited The Kingdom of Boomeria, the unusual home of Preston Q. Boomer. On his property is a castle, a chapel with a home-built pipe organ, catacombs that lie beneath the structures, a guillotine, and a world of other surprises. The SC Baroque festival was putting on a benefit that featured various performances and demonstrations throughout the day.

Prelude from Prelude & Fugue No.2 in G Minor
Vlada Moran / Johannes Brahms

This is a recording I made (with permission). It's unusual to hear a pipe organ in such a small, dry space. Usually pipe organs are heard in great cathedrals and are swimming in reverberation. The organ is constructed in such a way that you can crawl "into" the organ to sit and listen. It took 20 years to build with the help of his science students.
